Los Oxford Celebran 15 Años – Entrevista a Joselo de Olarte

Los Oxford celebran 15 años y lo festejan en Bluzz Live, en un evento compartido con Los Seres Vivientes y la banda argentina Inseparables (la cual debutará en Uruguay ese día). El show incluirá el adelanto de muchas canciones del próximo disco del grupo, como nos cuenta el vocalista Joselo de Olarte en esta entrevista, donde también conversamos sobre el disco tributo a Los Oxford a editarse por la discográfica argentina Triple RRR, y los planes del grupo a futuro.

Quince años es mucho tiempo, especialmente en un medio como el local. ¿Qué fue los que le brindó tanta continuidad? ¿Cuál es la principal enseñanza que les dejó todo este tiempo juntos como banda?

Las enseñanzas son varias porque en quince años pasó de todo, pero lo más lindo es la gente que uno conoce en el camino

¿Cuál es la definición de Los Oxford, o (al menos) la definición que les gustaría que el público tuviera de ustedes?

No sabría decirlo yo, pero creo que se nota que somos un grupo de amigos que es feliz cuando se sube a un escenario

¿Cuál dirían que es la principal característica del sonido de la banda? ¿Qué los distingue de otras propuestas musicales en Uruguay?

Creo que somos una banda muy difícil de catalogar, de hecho esa es una gran característica, pero tenemos un sonido y una actitud bien propia y que no comparten muchas bandas locales. Continue reading

A band whose members have really interesting musical backgrounds, Los Oxford grouped together in 2003. I became aware of their existence a long time ago, as one of their members got in touch with me and requested a review when I wrote about another Uruguayan band, Soundays.  And I have always meant to write about them.
And now, the moment has come like sudden rain. Some things are just meant to be…
I have always meant to marry Colbie Caillat, for example. But that’s yet to materialize.
I mean, I know it’s within my reach. It’s meant to be. Just the other day I came across this pearl of wisdom on Facebook, and it renewed all these hopes which were starting to falter:

And if you need any more proof… Elvis Costello married Diana Krall!!! What else is there to say? C’mon!
